Hailes Castle Ghost – Is it True?

Hailes Castle GhostHailes Castle is a mainly 14th century castle about a mile and a half south-west of East Linton, East Lothian, Scotland.

This castle, which has a fine riverside setting, belonged to the Hepburn family during the most important centuries of its existence. Since 1926, it has been the subject of a state-sponsored guardianship agreement, which is now under the auspices of Historic Scotland. It is also ‘rumoured’ to be haunted by the Hailes Castle Ghost

Every year – sometimes twice a year – I return to this location to update the information on the Haunted Scotland site, along with photography work, video capture, and of course not forgetting some intense audio work.

This is done in a way to be respectful to all visitors, locals, and following the guidelines set down by Historic Scotland as a proud member of their organisation.

The latest visit to the location was on a quiet Sunday morning in February (15/02/15) with the prime reason of updating the visual aspect of the data on this website, and to conduct some light Hailes Castle 2015audio work as a test of the new updated Echovox 3.0 software engine.

I absolutely love this location, its setting, and the peaceful environment you can feel as you walk through that roadside gate. Remember though, it still has its alleged haunting….

Hailes Castle Ghost

The activity at this location includes the sighting of a lady in white, rumoured to be the much travelled “Mary Queen of Scots” the figure is said to graciously float through the castle and its grounds. The figure is often sighted by visitors or locals to the area both past and present. Could this be the Hailes Castle ghost?

Hailes Castle UndercroftDeep from within the walls of the castle, various banging and moving sounds have been reported, no clear visual data accompanies these sounds.

Is it due to wildlife?
How about residual energy emanating from the environment?
An active spirit seeking attention?

Please do enjoy the following video & photography work from this visit, and feel free to let us know what you think.
