Spirits: Edzell Castle in Angus

Edzell Castle is a stunning semi-ruined 16th-century castle. It’s located close to Edzell, and is around 5 miles north of Brechin, in Angus, Scotland.

The Castle was constructed around 1520 by David Lindsay, the 9th Earl of Crawford, and then was expanded on by his son, Sir David Lindsay, Lord Edzell, who also laid out the garden in 1600’s.

We will follow in the footsteps of the Jacobites, seek out locations associated with King Robert The Bruce, scramble across the country in search of Mary Queen of Scots and finally, lookout for the outlaw and national hero, William Wallace and his locations of interest.

We want to see if the conscious energies of these long gone physical figures still frequent their past locations of interest.

Come join us in the search, as we start with the Jacobite Risings, here at Haunted Scotland….

Ruthven Barracks

Ruthven Barracks, Scotland, are the smallest but best preserved of the four barracks built in 1719 after the 1715 Jacobite rising. Set on an old castle mound, the complex comprises two large three-storey blocks occupying two sides of the enclosure, each with two rooms per floor.

Destroyed by Jacobites following their retreat after the Battle of Culloden in 1746, the Barracks ruins are maintained as an Ancient Monument by Historic Scotland.

Live Event Feedback – The Vaults in Edinburgh 05

I have now ventured down the vaults on several occasions. It truly is a fascinating place, as you find yourselves standing in awe, trying to imagine what went on when they were active all those years ago.

They are not the most comfortable areas to conduct an investigation in, and it can become very tiring as it saps your energy toward the end of the research night.

It goes to show, exactly, how hard real paranormal investigating can be and how patience has a key role.

It’s such a regular occurrence here at Haunted Scotland – and previously as the founding member and owner of Scottish Paranormal – that my email box begins to fill up with requests for information on the best places to stay (with a haunting of course) along with where to visit and, in my opinion, what I suggest through my experiences.

As we approach Halloween, I wanted to offer a few suggestions to get you in the spirit of the season and allow you to get those plans made early.

So you have the application on your Smart-Phone or PC Tablet and you are ready to rock and roll on location. However, how do you begin you may wonder, and what is the best way to conduct such sessions to get maximum possibility of results.

How Does Echovox Work?

In yesterdays short article named Does Echovox Work, we spoke about how this application was different from the ghostly fun on android or Iphone applications, that may be purchased through places such as Google Play.

I reassured everyone that we have a good working device that may be used by any researcher or member of the public, with an interest in this type of study.

Protect Your Paranormal Research & Observations

Members of the paranormal research field get a hard time from many quarters, whether it be about finding extraordinary evidence, which I have shown to be irrational, or due to individuals who are using the field to propel media careers, while they attack all and sundry to reach that goal.

I have also discovered that location owners, or curators, may in fact be playing games also, to boost their own work and place teams against each other with behind-back whispers, or even trying to catch out mediumistic researchers with false information.

Where is the proof?

It’s simply the cry from the sidelines involving those who prefer theories, in-favour of actions or results. It really is very simple to sit in the armchair and proclaim a whole manner of hypothesises, debunking everything in your path without so much as movement, to take action, so as to experience directly.

Usually such ways of operation are preferred by a whole host of members from what I term, Pseudo-Sceptical groups and organisations.
