Debunkers: Only Reinforcing Their Beliefs

We live in a funny old world where everything appears to be upside down, and many people seem to be confusing the issue by adopting practices that take them away from their specific goals, not towards them.

Michael Ellner was absolutely spot on with his perception of the world when he said:

“Just look at us. Everything is backwards, everything is upside down. Doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, psychiatrists destroy minds, scientists destroy truth, major media destroys information, religions destroy spirituality and governments destroy freedom.”

I wish to now add to this fantastic observation – by Ellner – and say, debunkers destroy possibility of finding evidence!! Now that will get some people in a spin this morning…..

Okay, before my email box fills up with complaints let’s go deeper and see exactly what I mean, and why this is highly relevant to real paranormal research and observations.

You see, what we find is a small minority of people who operate under the banner of  ‘The Paranormal Community’ and claim to be standing up for logic, rationality, and professionalism in an expert sort of way.

This is all very well, and noble, but when we look deeper we find some startling information.

The proclaimers [of such a stance] are actually running from internal belief systems, and really only trying to confirm their own thoughts on the vast subject.

In any Investigation, research, or observational work into the paranormal – and it’s multitude of cases – we must always approach from a position of flexibility in mind.

This means we have to be truly open-minded and not succumb to the everything is paranormal, or nothing is paranormal, labelled boxes.

Do you see what I mean?

If you – for example – approach [the case] as a debunker, you have already made up your mind that the claims are false and you can show such!

So this stance is in no way flexible nor open-minded.

It has also been brought to my attention, that some within the community are still ridiculing the audio captures gained via the Echovox software. They are absolutely entitled to their opinions BUT yet again, we have pre-judged ideas without any real experience or display of how they came to such conclusions without usage of the software.

So without the real experience, they are NOT real experts, the clue is in the words!

In order to make some strong claims about apparitions, locations, or techniques one must have undertaken the time and effort to fully test, experience, and show the results gained from such operation.

No one can seriously sit back and claim any of the above true or false without doing the leg work.

To do such [proclamations], just brings up Albert Einstein’s famous quote…

Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance.” – Albert Einstein.

So why do we have groups of people who feel it amusing to ridicule, discredit, and then claim to be the bastions of debunking practices and finders of truth?

Well, some are only reinforcing the way they see the world, how they have been conditioned through upbringing, education, and information gained from authority.

They have no room to consider opposing information to the already rigid mindset that was installed in their brain. They first would need to discard a lot of what they have invested in.

They may have mixed up the ideas in their head with who they truly are, as in, associating themselves as being the information – and image – they hold dearly and thus, feeling they are being attacked when the information they hold is shown to be false.

They must separate themselves from the conditioning, and work from their true being without fear nor favour.

You have to understand also, that a lot of people will just flock to someone – or a group of people – who seem to know what they are talking about.

They will repeat information without even knowing if it’s remotely true or not.

This is why Pseudo-sceptical groups try to use big words, paint big pictures of their experience, and connect themselves to those they perceive as intelligent.

It’s all a show, to gather in the punters and then go on the attack against ANYONE who goes against their rigid belief system.

To show you the lunacy of it, they then go and attack others for running from silly belief systems, not knowing, they are actually active against what they are themselves. Crazy Huh?

In a subject such as the paranormal, you must approach every angle from a position of open-minded flexibility. If you do not do this, you will fail in your task of finding the real truth.

You must consider EVERYTHING but be attached to nothing, openly discuss all possibilities, but realise you may have to move position regularly.

You have to be comfortable knowing at key points you may be completely wrong, but have the ability to move position with a smile and carry on when this situations manifests.

To become a true expert in the subject is easy, gain experience and report it truthfully.

That is the true way to be, and is exactly where some have went the wrong road.

Never feel compelled to conform to groups who have strong rigid belief systems, regardless of their education, standing in society, or perceived authority.

You are the expert of your experiences, the only way to truly know something, is to dive right in and find out. Most of you have already done so, and will know exactly what I am talking about.

My advice to new and old operators in this vast topic would be this….

View the world with new eyes and discard what you think you know about everything. Begin to remove the information that has been conditioned into you from the sources I mentioned before, and start with a new blank canvas.

Start testing everything and make a firm decision to not judge on something without seeing for yourself, which will involve personal subjective experience.

Be open and honest if you do not know something, be true to you and speak only truth to others you wish to work with in topics such as this.

Come from a position of integrity, honestly, and flexibility, and not a position of regurgitated non-verified ‘facts’ by famous faces or authoritative figures.

Quickly you will find that this new way of being is the only way to be, and that the old methods of conforming to the groups who ‘think’ they are correct – but following a leader – are completely outdated and plain wrong on many levels.

Think about the above, take it into your own mindset, and see where it can be applied to help you in your research, observations or life in general.

Let’s move forward and create a new paradigm, where the experiencing person is the true expert, and slowly start turning this world back the right way up.
